Somewhere Between Still Life and a Daydream: Dan Saelinger for OLLY
When still life needs to feel alive, the balance between control and spontaneity becomes everything.
This series by Dan Saelinger explores that tension through sculptural compositions that feel intentional but not static. Form, color, and texture are pushed just far enough to create energy while keeping the brand clear and central.
Each setup was built in camera pulling from hundreds of flowers and raw ingredients to evoke scent and character. Elements were carefully layered, suspended, and shaped with light, to painstakingly capture it all in a single frame.
Every SKU became its own world. Sleep leaned into deep purples with moody, low contrast light. Happy pushed brighter with more direct, sunlit color. Cool carried a crisp, sharper edge. It was all worked out live on set, dialing in the balance with the OLLY creative team.

At its core, this is classic still life, precision styling, exacting light, and a focus on craft. Even as Dan works across photography, CGI, and AI, his work is grounded in building images physically, using light, color, shadow, and texture to make something that feels authentic.
Dan is always interested in projects where still life needs to do more than sit still, where it carries mood, motion, and a clear point of view.
