Silent Scars: Andy Glass Melds Nature and Human Intervention Through Striking CGI-Enhanced Landscapes

In his latest personal project, Silent Scars, photographer, director, and CGI artist Andy Glass explores the nuanced tension between the natural world and human intervention. Developed in collaboration with CGI and animation specialists POP Creative Studio, the series examines how we impose change on our environment-sometimes with care, sometimes destructively-and questions whether these changes can ever be truly harmonious.

"After over 20 years of working together, there’s a creative trust with Andy that allows for true collaboration. An open exchange of ideas, honest critique without ego, and the kind of back-and-forth that always leads to a stronger result. Andy’s mastery of landscape photography makes it a genuine honour to be part of projects like Silent Scars, where the message is just as inspiring as the visuals. “

Andy brings a thoughtful and optimistic lens to this haunting subject. With each image, he presents a landscape transformed, shimmering shards embedded in ancient rock, delicate glass blades rising from sand dunes, crystalline veins splitting stone. These additions are not meant to blend seamlessly; instead, they create friction, forcing the viewer to sit with both beauty and discomfort.

Set in locations across the UK such as Glyder Fawr, Forvie Sands, and Bad a’ Ghaill, Silent Scars is a meditation on what it means to leave a mark. The interventions are crafted to feel both part of and foreign to the environment, highlighting our dual role as stewards and disruptors of the planet. This project invites us to reflect on how we define progress and what we’re willing to sacrifice to pursue it.

Silent Scars is a philosophical study and Andy pushes the boundaries of technique and narrative to provoke emotion, contemplation, and conversation.
